Never before have so many people with so little to say said so much to so few.
Still, short of ranting, there is some solace in being able to organize your thoughts in black and white. Here is a list of topics that I often need to get out of my system...and plan to do so here.
- Dhaka - It's my city, but like someone said, proof of God's existence lies in the sustainment of life in this over crowded over-inefficient mismanaged city.
- Service - No company in Dhaka has any sense of service or customer service, except may be Rahimafrooz. I like SCB too for their strategy of not needing customers to visit the bank premises. This is about it. Others are doing you a favor by running a business.
- Common Sense - I often find it hard to communicate or have a healthy debate. People are closed in their mindset and even use fallacies to make their case. It is more a play of words than an urge to explore different viewpoints. And then there are polls and statistics and the media. If you take the trouble, you will find two sides to any story. So it is all really matter of an individual prejudice aka opinion.
- Times - Where are we going? Is civilization going down the drain or coming out of it? War, politics, suppression, hunger...all are prevailing in today's advanced world. Even the beningn accepted norms of the times, like gym or taxes or saving energy is an irony of modernization.
- Life - Life is hard in this age of cut-throat competition, which gives sense to most religions' saying that human race is sent to earth as punishment. But then, giving birth is causing suffering to a life! I have not also been able to come near to any conclusion about the role and juxtaposition of my gender. It is hard to accept that woman have to be a home maker which must limit scope for financial as well as thought independence. The alternative working mothers is not fair for the child, the mother, the family or the employer.
Men, religion and politics...well, the less said the better!
